Dylan Mitchell

STRENGTH TRAINER

Dylan Mitchell is a Charlottesville native currently completing her degree in Kinesiology, graduating in May 2026. She is also a NASM Certified Personal Trainer and is passionate about helping people build strength, confidence, and a positive relationship with movement.

Dylan began lifting after finishing her senior year basketball season in high school. Like many people, her relationship with exercise was off and on for a few years before she began prioritizing strength training more intentionally over the past year. Since then, she has fully embraced the challenge and growth that comes with training, even completing a half marathon in 2025 and setting her sights on future endurance and hybrid fitness events like HYROX.

She was drawn to The Strength Initiative because of its mission to create a welcoming space where women can become stronger and take up space in the fitness world. Dylan strongly believes that strength training should be accessible to everyone, and she enjoys helping others understand both the why and the how behind training.

In the gym, Dylan loves unilateral strength work and rotational core exercises that build functional strength. Recently she has been diving deeper into barbell training and is quickly becoming a fan of the bench press as she continues pushing herself in new ways.

Outside of the gym, Dylan loves reading mystery novels, experimenting in the kitchen as she learns to cook and bake, and listening to podcasts about fitness, longevity, relationships, and personal growth. She’s a lifelong UVA basketball fan—her grandfather played for the team in the 1960s—and she grew up attending games with her family. Dylan also grew up playing basketball herself and is excited to join a local league after graduation.
