Julia Moschella

CERTIFIED PERSONAL TRAINER
DIRECTOR OF TRAINING PROGRAMS
HEAD TRAINER

Julia Moschella is an exercise science enthusiast with a passion for helping people discover the joy of movement and strength. Originally from Christiansburg, VA, Julia earned her B.S.Ed. in Kinesiology (2023) and her Master’s in Exercise Physiology (2024) from the University of Virginia. While completing her degrees, she worked as a personal trainer at UVA, where she discovered how much she loved helping others get stronger and more confident in the gym. Today, she works as both a personal trainer and an exercise physiologist in cardiopulmonary rehab at Sentara Martha Jefferson Hospital—roles that allow her to combine science, coaching, and meaningful connections with clients every day.

Julia first got into lifting through high school sports but became more serious about strength training during her first year of college. A true self-starter, she taught herself exercises by watching YouTube videos and experimenting in the gym—eventually earning her personal training certification after informally coaching friends. She loves incorporating variety into her workouts, mixing barbells, dumbbells, and kettlebells, and is currently on a mission to hit 10 unbroken pull-ups (her favorite exercise!).

When Julia heard about The Strength Initiative, she immediately knew it was a perfect fit. Passionate about empowering women through strength, she loves teaching safe and effective lifting techniques and watching clients achieve goals they never thought possible. For Julia, strength training isn’t just about building muscle—it’s about improving health, function, and confidence at every stage of life.

Outside of the gym, Julia is happiest when she’s moving—whether that’s running, hiking, or camping in the great outdoors. She ran her first marathon in 2023 (with more to come!) and loves exploring national parks whenever she travels. A lifelong martial artist with a black belt in karate, she also brings grit and discipline to everything she does. When she’s not coaching or training herself, Julia can usually be found listening to music, geeking out over exercise science, performance, and nutrition, or planning her next big adventure.
